Whilst some people have likened using an epilator to using an instrument of torture, there can be no denying that the epilator is the most effective way of removing hair from your legs and body. The tweezers grip the hair and remove it from your skin at the follicle level, completely eliminating the hair in the process. This effect can last anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks and research proves that continued use of an epilator can decrease the density of hair and slow down its regrowth! So what is the downside you may ask? Well, there can be no denying, it does hurt, especially if you don't have the proper technique down!
In recent years i have to admit that i've become increasingly reliant on my epilator and whilst i still treat myself to a waxing now and again (is treat the right word for waxing? Hmm, yes, i'll go with it!), epilating is now my go to gadget. For me it's a matter of convenience, i can hop into the shower and grab my wet & dry epilator and off i go, no mess, no fuss i can have smooth legs by the time i step out of the bathroom. What more could you possibly ask for? I came across this great little site that has all the best epilators in the UK listed in one easy to use table, check it out at BestEpilatorReviews.org.uk as it's well worth a look. I recommend you pick up one of their top rated epilators or i can help you choose one during our appointment with advice on which is best for your skins needs.

Sooo, you have your epilator and have no doubt tried it out already yeah? How did it go, did it hurt? Likelihood is you answered yes to that question as it is often the case, particularly with new users. The reason is first of all that unlike waxing, you need to take a warm bath or shower to help loosen up the skins pores. This will let the tweezers of the epilator grip the base of the hairs more efficiently before it pulls them out of their hidey holes, and this is made much easier by picking the right one. Once bathed you should pat dry the area to be epilated with a towel if you're using a corded device. Those of you who went for the cordless waterproof versions like me are advised to epilate right there in the shower with your device. Not only will the water help loosen the hairs but it will also wash away plucked hairs and prevent them getting all over the place.
Now for the tricky part, or at least it will be tricky until you get the hang of it, after which it will literally become second nature and you can whizz over your legs and other body parts in a matter of minutes. If your epilating an area where the skin is naturally tight such as your shins you can skip this bit. Otherwise, first off you want to stretch the area of skin to be epilated between your fingers so that it is taught. Now move the epilator against the flow of the hairs, going slowly at first till you get the hang of it. You should be able to feel the tweezers as they pull each hair out at the root, and at first this is going to hurt! Remember, you don't have to spend big money to get super smooth legs, it's all in the technique and choice of tool!
With practice and persistence however you will soon get used to the feeling and the results are more than worth it in my opinion, just check how smooth and silky your legs will feel post epilation session. You'll be amazed at it!
